State of Matter: an abstract glass artwork reminiscent of an abstracted version of a flowering shrub. The work consists of laboratory glassware through which liquid and air are pumped. You can see the life juices of the bush flowing through the twisted glass veins. Every now and then a bubble escapes and is pushed forward. The appearance of the artwork is constantly changing.

For the roof garden of the new headquarters of the European Medicines Agency [EMA] at the Amsterdam Zuidas business district, three artworks are made. All three sculptures are made of borosilicate laboratory glass as part of the Liquid life series: referring to the intangible and fleeting life. The use of glass, as frozen water, refers to the fragility of life and al its reflections and each work has its own title, based on the [transitional] state in which a material can be.

State of Matter: een abstract glaskunstwerk dat doet denken aan een geabstraheerde versie van een bloeiende struik. Het werk is opgebouwd uit laboratorium glaswerk waardoorheen vloeistof en lucht verpompt worden. De levenssappen van de struik zie je door de kronkelde glazen aderen stromen. Af en toe ontsnapt er een luchtbel die vooruit gestuwd wordt. Het aanzicht van het kunstwerk is continu in verandering.

Een van de drie sculpturen, gemaakt voor de daktuin van het nieuwe hoofdkantoor van het Europese medicijn agentschap [EMA] in het bedrijfsdistrict aan de Zuidas in Amsterdam. Al de installaties zijn vervaardigd uit borosilicaat laboratoriumglas. De drie sculpturen maken deel uit van de serie: Liquid life, verwijzend naar het ongrijpbare en vluchtige leven. Het gebruik van glas, als bevroren vloeistof, verwijst naar de breekbaarheid van het leven. Elk werk heeft een eigen titel, gebaseerd op de [overgangs]toestand waarin een stof zich kan bevinden.
